This has been one heck of a week! It started off with a really fun *Twilight* party at one of my friend's homes on Sunday night. We had a blast!! Although, I did find that we sat around and compared the book to the movie CONSTANTLY!! I know, the book is always better than the movie, but this time it was SO true!! There were so many details that were left out in the movie, so many facts that really explained the characters and the situations - it really just felt empty. I am no movie critic, but seriously, if you want to really know what all of the *Twilight* fascination is about - read the book! Don't base your opinion on the movie alone.
The week continued with Mom's Group drama - ugh!! I despise drama. I hate it. It seriously makes my skin crawl and I avoid it at all costs if possible. This time, not so much . . . to make a really long, drawn-out story short - I now know that people are never really who you think they are. Needless to say, I am now less one friend and it saddens me deeply to know that I have lost that friendship because it was a person that I cared for and had shared many things with. But when a friend betrays the trust that you share, by saying mean things and questioning ones honesty and integrity, with absolutely no proof to back up their statements, the friendship changes and disintegrates, causing a rift that can never be repaired. So, with that, those are the final words that I will ever mutter on the subject.
And so it continues . . . the week from hell drags on with my blood sugars getting all whacked out on Tuesday. I figured the stress of Scott's job search, and the stress of losing a friend, added to the stress of just everyday life was causing my CBGs to be kind of kooky and running higher than normal, but not uncontrollable. Well, fast-forward to 10PM on Tuesday . . . I checked my blood sugar and the meter read "HIGH GLUCOSE" - WHAT??? I haven't had a meter not give me an actual number in years. Years!! Like, when meters only read up to 300 - which was YEARS, DECADES ago!!! I was in panic mode now - I changed out all of my tubing on the pump and started a new infusion set. When I took out the old one, I realized what the problem was - the infusion set was kinked at a 90-degree angle. Ugh!! So, two shots, two infusion sets, and brand new bottle of insulin later, ny blood sugar was finally below 200 at 4:30AM the next morning. Can I just say that I hate diabetes? Like, seriously. I hate it.
And finally . . . today has been much better. My kids slept in until 9 o'clock this morning - probably because of the rain and the lack of sunshine coming through their windows, It was a nice change! My life seems a bit less chaotic today, less stressful - more grounded. When Scott finally lands a job, things will definitely be back to normal, But for now, I will just keep praying that something comes his way that he will enjoy.
